19. How does this technology compare to other waste management technologies?
All other technologies known to us eventually fail either due to the high construction and operations costs and/or environmental risks or simply do not achieve such high efficiencies and overall economic sustainability. Incineration and many “waste-to-energy” plants that rely principally on incineration techniques have many environmental pollution issues. Many types of plants require complex sorting of the waste, as one technology can only process one sort of waste. Often the by-products from these alternatives have to be land-filled, and raw materials are wasted as they are not used effectively. All these types of plants have relatively low energy creation efficiency, which is particularly disproportional to the huge investment costs. The only debatable alternatives on the market, pyrolysis and gasification, still include enormous technical problems which the Blue Tower has overcome.
